River Rides, 2021

While working through my series of desert paintings, I was continuously trying to look at things differently than I typically would. Incorporating the heat of the desert with the cool of the Colorado River and the many layers of rock and light was a challenge and this painting in particular taught me so much about layering the foreground, middle ground, and background in ways that give each the spotlight they deserve.
